Privacy Policy

How Apex Legal handles your data — written plainly, so you know exactly what we do and what we never do.

Effective date: 24 June 2026 · Version 1.0
⚖️ Plain English Summary

Your emails never leave your device or your email provider. When you connect Gmail or Outlook, Apex reads your emails directly in your browser and sends only the extracted intelligence — what happened, who was involved, what was promised — to our AI for analysis. We do not store your raw emails on any server. We never sell your data. We never share it with third parties. You can disconnect at any time and your data is gone.

01

Who We Are

Apex Legal is an AI-powered email intelligence and practice management application built for lawyers and law firms. It is developed and operated by Collins Adu, based in Accra, Ghana.

02

What Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service. Here is exactly what that means:

03

What We Never Do

04

How Email Integration Works

When you connect your Gmail or Microsoft Outlook account, you are using the official OAuth authentication system provided by Google or Microsoft. This means:

You sign in directly with Google or Microsoft — Apex Legal never sees your password. Google or Microsoft gives Apex a temporary access token, which is stored only in your browser. Apex uses this token to read your emails on your behalf, directly in your browser.

You can revoke access at any time by going to your Google or Microsoft account security settings and removing Apex Legal from connected apps. Alternatively, click "Disconnect" inside Apex. When you disconnect, all locally stored intelligence is cleared immediately.

05

Client Confidentiality

We understand that lawyers have strict professional obligations around client confidentiality. Apex Legal is designed with this in mind.

Your client data stays on your device. Matters, timelines, promises, and client names are stored in your browser's local storage — not on our servers. When you clear your browser data or sign out, this information is removed.

When email content is sent to our AI for analysis, it is processed over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and is not retained after the analysis is complete. The AI receives only what is necessary to extract the intelligence — it does not build a profile of you or your clients.

06

Data Storage and Security

Apex Legal is a browser-based application. Your workspace data is stored in your browser's localStorage — on your own device. It is not uploaded to or stored on our servers.

All communication between Apex Legal and external services (Google, Microsoft, our AI provider) is encrypted using HTTPS. Our application is hosted on Netlify, which maintains industry-standard security practices.

Because your data is stored locally, clearing your browser cache or switching devices will remove your Apex workspace. We recommend using a consistent browser and device for your practice.

07

Your Rights

You have the right to:

08

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you inside the app before the changes take effect. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.

Continued use of Apex Legal after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
